I know that a lot of people have been saying that they would like to see sequels for the Host. But I think that it would be more interesting if Stephenie were to write a prequel.

It could be about the beginning of the invasion, how it all started, and how people first began to realize something was wrong. It would be interesting to hear this from Sharon's perspective, because it was her family that realized something weird was going on, and who took action first.

What do you all think about this idea???

Not that I wouldn't mind seeing a prequel, but I'd prefer a sequel over one.

I'm not a huge sci-fi fan though, and had to force myself through the first couple chapters. But once the story got going and all the sciency stuff was more or less out of the way, I really enjoyed it. Hearing about the invasion and stuff would be fun, but I'm sure there'd be a lot more of the sci-fi factor in it.

I'd still read it regardless though Very Happy

I wouldn't mind a prequel from a human's perspective; it could be interesting and action-packed.

^^^^
Agreed, it would be cool to see more of Melanie and Jared and Jamie in action, on the run.

I'd rather a sequel than prequel. I think a prequel would be interesting, but I want Wanda, Ian, Melanie, Jared and Jamie..

I'm gonna say both.

I think a prequel would be good, to see all the action, the discovery of aliens taking over. I'm the type that doesn't like science fiction but still likes it type of thing. I mean, I can get hooked on Dark Angel and Roswell and write my own sci-fi -ish type story, but not be a fan like some people I know (my brother for example)

But I'd also like to find out about what happens after. I mean, now we know that there are more human groups like Jeb's, with some aliens on their side, it would make things interesting.

Plus I want to see what happens with Wanderer and Ian. Does he find out that she's really only 'sixteen'? Will there be something deeper in the whole Jared/Melanie/Ian/Wanderer thing?

Why would it matter if she was sixteen? He was loving her and dating her and being with her...when she was in another's body. Mind you, one of his best friend's girlfriends body....he was loving her for her and didn't even care about what she looked like. Do you really think he would care that her host's body is 16 years old? The only reason Wanda said 18 is because of Melanie's reaction from Jared, but he didn't care once he got to know her did he? Ian wouldn't care one wit...Wanda is Wanda to him..whether she be a baby, which he would just take care of her like Quil, or a 30 year old woman....as long as she's not too ugly.

AAAAAAAaaannndd..I think there is something deeper in the Quad. Like the reaction from Melanie to touch Ian's arm...and the stare between Jared and Wanda...haha. It seems the only one who doesn't have that weird vibe is Ian. SEE even better with my rant above Smile. I SO have to re-read that book...stupid good book is not allowing me to though, and you know that The host is a little dry in the beginning.

I would love both.

I want to hear more of Wanderer, Ian, Mel and Jared.

I find the whole soul, human parasite interesting so I would definitely read a prequel.

Do you think that the souls and humans could ever get along? I mean obviously, there are groups out there like Wanda's and the new group that have overcome problems with the souls and are now living some what harmoniously with them.

But would other people be able to? I mean, Kyle only came round because of Ian and he ended up getting his girl (somewhat) back. Aunt Maggie?? and Sharon are still not as receptive to Wanda even though Melanie is back.

Although I know that we here at the TA all want to live in peace with the souls (mainly because of Ian!! And Jared too... Rolling Eyes), I think I know quite a few people that wouldn't want to surrender their bodies.

And what would happen when other countries find out about the invasion, if they haven't already been invaded themselves? Surely they'd react in the least peaceful way possible!!

i actually don't really think there would be a peaceful way to get along...
I don't know..perhaps a stop of the invasion?I honestly have no idea =)
A peaceful story wouldn't even make a good book

I don't know....Humans can't even get along peacefully with themselves, let alone a new species. I wouldn't mind have a few souls around (that medicine!), but I'm pretty sure my entire family would cause some damage one way or another.

I'm not sure people would willingly give up their minds and bodies, though.

I think instead of a sequal or a prequal, i'd kinda like to see what is was like for a different clan....like the one they met at the end it would be interesting to see how it was for other people....and maybe just maybe expand on how they left it just a bit...

but i was genuinely happy with how it ended, it was the best ending i have read in a while very able to be just left alone with no more to it, but still able to tack some on if she gets the urge
