I think you should make the most recent messages/replies appear first when you click on a thread so that people know which threads are the most active.

I think we actually have this feature.
When you log in, on the main page sections that have new posts will have the box infront of them colored in gray, instead of white.
Then when you click on the section, the threads with new posts will have a tan folder, instead of a gray folder.

Remember, it only shows up when youare logged in.
