(haha)
Um, I just had a question. A boy from South Carolina moved up here and started going to my school at the beginning of the semester. Pretty much the moment he and my sister met (my sister is my suitemate), they became inseparable. I'm fine with that part, he's a really awesome guy and all.. it's just that he invited her to spend a week or two in SC when school gets out until he came back up here for summer school. She was sooo excited.
The problem is, he can no longer afford to stay in the dorms or take classes until fall semester so my sister can't go. She probably won't end up seeing him until fall classes start, either. Unless she can get down there for a few days sometime this summer, she's probably going to be pretty upset until he comes back. She's already spent a fair amount of time crying and being pretty depressed. As far as I know, not many long distance relationships last long. Then again this is only kind of temporary..
I guess I just want to know if this kind of thing has happened to anyone, and if there's anything I can do that will help her out. I don't want her to be sad all summer.

I don't really think there is much you can do in these situations, just keep her busy and take her mind off of things. My brother and his girlfriend (Now wife) used to be going to school in different countries. Which meant flights back and fourth for the 4 years, they could do it, so I'm sure she'll be fine once he comes back, it dosnt sound like he will be away long. So yeah, just keep her busy, do fun things, I think thats the best way of keeping her happy. - I know I didnt really give you much help here, sorry! haha. _________________

I agree, Aimeeallyce came up with really good advice. I would just try to be there for her when she's sad, and try to do fun things with her and help her continue to be positive about her relationship. Being apart doesn't necessarily mean imminent death for a relationship, often it makes it stronger.
Haha wow, thank you very much guys.. that's so sweet about your brother and his wife. They give me hope, haha. I think she feels better now because they've picked a time for her to make a visit, and they'll probably see the Dave Matthews Band when she's down there. They're his favorite band, so that should be cool for them.
Thanks again so much, it really did help. _________________
