Edward's Patience

Is anyone else just like, super impressed with how well Edward handles everything with Bella and Jacob? He has restraint not to kill Jacob, puts up with the whole "space heater" situation, and even stays with Bella when she is crying, heartbroken over another guy.

*sigh* Only a guy with 100+ years could truly have that kind of patience and understanding. I admire him so much for that, because it had to be hard.

I am with you on that. Over the the three books he has gotten better with his behavior & emotions but like any guy that really cares for their gf he would do so much for her. The bad things that have hurt both of them has made their relationship very strong. The best thing is that he lets her have her way sometimes but other times he acts on his instances human or vampire.

I wish more guys were like Edward instead of like Jake behavior wise.

Patience is a virtue

I most definitely agree, Serena. I see Edward as having this immense amount of patience and virtuous nature about him, even if he claims not to have it (See the tent scene with Jacob in Eclipse). A century of "living" would no doubt do that for a person. I also see as the times that he is selfish or impatient is like his original adolescent self rearing its head. Or perhaps that is just a male thing. Something about being overly-protective to his girl is in his genes. Maybe.

Either way, I'm still show my vote on the whole gentleman thing with him:

I think Edward is the most patient man I have ever known (for lack of better term). Sometimes, I think Bella is testing him too much... straining his patience and pushing him to his limit. I know it's probably not that way, but although I love Bella, she is a little bit self-centered.

I hope that they won't make this a conflict. LOL.

I don't think it's so much his patience as his love for Bella. He would never want her to suffer, you know?

I also think it's more of a mastery of self control. And self control includes patience.

You know, I never looked at the fact that he has lived for 100+ years. Can you imagine all of the heartbreak and pain that he has witnessed through other people, not including his own? He has witnessed almost everything! I wonder if those life experiences that he has witnessed have had any influence over the way that he approaches situations with Bella?

*shrugs*

it still makes him a hottie...

And it's even more than witnessed...he has heard the thoughts of the people in pain. That's a double-whammy if anything, to me.

Patience is a virtue that hot mind readers must have, or they will go insane.

I love how he's posessive of Bella though....and it's not out of jealousy it's sincerely for her safety.

fosho! that's why he deserves Bella all the way! he's been this awesome, how could she choose another. i personally think he's more addictive than heroine, not that i've had that experience. especially to Bella.

I think it's possibly because he was born in the era of manners, or atleast when they actually mattered in the world.

During his time, men were looked down upon if they were not polite. Now on the restraint part of the matter, I agree that it has to be his age.

I think he takes it out on the mountain lions, you know, when he gets real frustrated, but if he gets the urge to just kill Jake, he just tells himself that it would make Bella unhappy. We already know he's angry for hurting her once before, in New Moon.

But seriously....mountain lions, they're like .....punching bags to him aren't they? Edible punching bags.

Sounds delicious.

It makes sense that Edward would take his frustration out on his prey.

Edward can put up with some much because he is truly in love with her. To him there is no one else in the world (besides his family). Just Bella. He loves her unconditionally no matter what! All that he wishes for is her happiness. He could honestly care less weather he is happy himself or not, as long as she is. Which to me is what makes him so damn perfect and irresistible!! :)
