I know! I never really gave it much thought until I read Midnight Sun. they are great and I think that their connection is so deep.

Reminds me of when they play chess in Eclipse. That's when I kind of realized how well their talents could work together. (I read MS Chapter 1 after I finished the books.)

Lexiani wrote:I felt really bad for Edward after reading that chapter. I mean, SM tells us repeatedly in the 3 books how hard it is for him to be around her because of how attractive her blood is to him but this actually gives us a sense of just how bad it is...desperation to have it to the point where he plots out killing the entire class. And I was really surprised that he really was going to kill Bella. Like you all said, it's a completely different tone from "Twilight" but it was fascinating and I really hope that she publishes it some day.

And it was also interesting to read about Jasper and the way Edward and Alice's talents work together like that. I guess I just never really sat and thought about how the two of them played off each other until after I read that.

I know. Midnight Sun has a distinctly darker tone. I really love the look into Edward's mind and his struggle with temptation. It actually drives the point of the story better. With Twilight we get this innocent love story that's hindered because Edward is a vampire. But with Bella's point of view we see the events from her side and her side makes everything more innocent, less dangerous. With Edward's point of view we see the true danger that Bella is in every moment. It's intense! I can't wait to read the whole thing.

And not even how Alice and Edward's powers compliment each other but also Alice's love for Jasper. How even though Edward was plotting in his mind all day to massacre an entire classroom Alice was so focused on Jasper and his plans that she didn't even "see" Edwards.

Midnight Sun really made me anxious and hopeful for not just understanding Edward and his thoughts but also the thoughts of our favorite vampire family. We will "hear" their thoughts too. I think it was a brilliant idea to re-write Twilight from his perspective because it will show a bit of everyone else's too.

I agree. That first chapter of Midnight Sun gave me so much perspective into not only Edward, but the entire Cullen family. It made them all so much more real to me, more substantial as characters and not charactertures.

I've read the chapter twice...and it's so much more interesting than the first chapter in Twilight, to me.

I thought that since I knew what would happen...I would skip through and get to the better parts. Not true at all. Edward's voice is so unique. It's wise and young at the same time. The first line completely shocked me.

When he talks about how high school is like his purgatory..that shocked me. I never expected Edward to say that. Yes, he would say something witty like that of course but to actually mean it? I didn't think so. I knew he must be bored of learning so much about it, but to consider it purgatory.

I was exceptionally glad to get to know more of Jasper. Jasper and Alice's relationship, and his first reaction to Bella. Oh that was fascinating.

Edward is so complex. I just thank Stephenie that she is writing Midnight Sun to let us see everthing of him, through his own words. For a while I was more excited about Midnight Sun being published than Breaking Dawn.

I think Robert will do fabulous. And he'll get Edward to a tee because Stephenie let him read MS.

I concur, I'm glad he got the extra insight.

And I really enjoy hearing the thoughts of everyone. I loved how he described Angela's thoughts, pure, he liked them because they weren't trivial and what not.

And I love the rhythm of his voice, it's so elegant and Gatsby-esque. (Totally just made up that word).

I liked the bits when one of the kids walked past and was like
Whoa! Where'd Cullen come from? There I go again, Mum always said I had an overactive imagination
or something along the lines of that...

I loved that part. That was fabulous...lol. I can't wait until all the thoughts come out. I really, really want to know what Charlie thinks. I've been re-reading Eclipse...and I really want his side of that and New Moon as well. It's so exasperating!!!

It's not sad that you're jealous....I'm exceptionally jealous too, but I'm also extraordinarily glad he was able to read it.
