Books to read while waiting for BD

Postby Lexiani on Thu Apr 10, 2008 2:34 am

So what are you all reading while waiting for BD to be released??

I'm reading, "Dead Until Dawn" by Charlaine Harris. She has 7 books out in this series right now with an 8th one due in May. But these are your typical vampires (no sunlight) but the main character (human) can read minds. It also has werewolves, witches, fairies...but they all come in one book at a time. It has some sexual content too.

I've just finished reading the Twilight saga for the second time and now I'm stuck at what I should read next. I heard about the book Vampire Academy, but I'm not sure how much I'd enjoy it after reading something amazing like Twilight. Has anyone read Vampire Academy? Is it any good?

I haven't heard about the Vampire Academy...

Some books to read include Gossip Girl, any Jane Austen, any John Marsden (especially the Tomorrow series), er...

I cannot think of any more atm, but there are loads more!

I just started reading Sara Gruen's "Water For Elephants", because I really liked her other books "Riding Lesson" and the sequal "Flying Changes". They were horse books kind of, as in adult novels where the main characters happened to live on a horse farm. I ride, so they were awesome. I highly recommended those two, and hope Water For Elephants will be just as good!

Fablehaven by Brandon Mull is a nice little series. It is targetted towards tweens, but it is one heck of a read! It is about two kids who visit their grandfather's mansion. Upon living there they realize that the land (Fablehave) is actually a haven for magical creatures! I really enjoyed them and I am 23!

Right now I'm re-reading Gone with the Wind. Because I can't just go to any old book, I have to go to my other obsession in order to get under control and not re-read twilight series over and over and over again.

But..for everyone who wishes to read a book. I recommed PS. I love you.

This was a movie...and it is a MUCH better book. I laughed for like five minutes while reading something in the book, and I've never laughed throughout the whole rendition of the book scene. Also, it's more about family...AND It's set in Ireland instead of New York.

Read it. Seriously. It's amazing.

Oh yeah. I've read it! I actually really enjoyed the book!! I am waiting on the second one to come out so that I can read it. I seriously didn't think these books were for younger people because the main character is pretty promiscuous and sexy. Haha. But really good for us. You'll see what I mean when you read it!!

Well, right now I'm reading Mountains Beyond Mountains for my global health class...Haha.

I wanna read Vampire Academy.

I'm reading the Sookie Stackhouse/ Southern Vampire series. It's really good! :P It's very contemporary and a light read... but totally awesome! LOL.

Hmm...the His Dark Materials books are good (The Golden Compass books for those who don't know), The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns (same author) are also very good. The Chronicles of Narnia series is also superb.

I have to admit, I'm having a very hard time reading any other books besides Twilight right now. Obsessed much...yes...and that is okay. :D

I'm going to move on to some different vampires. I just finished Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice, it was really good, next will be the Vampire Lestat..

It's just not the same though.. I don't like these vampires as much as the Cullens (haha) But it's definitely a good read

I'm doing a rotation of my bookshelf at the moment...funnily enough the Twilight Saga was at the start, but then I'll be moving on to Gossip Girl - read them, they are good!

Plus I like Stardust, Anna Karenina, uh, Bergdorf Blondes, A Great and Terrible Beauty etc

I love His Dark Materials. I think those books are absolutely brilliant!! When I read them I was really young but I still understood that these books sent a huge underlying message. Now that I'm older I appreciate his work more because his books are completely amazing!!

I was really upset about the movie because the church tried to get people not to see it. I'm Catholic and I believe that we should not be afraid to challenge our faith. I love these books even though they are seen as anti-God or whatever people claim them to be. But anyways, I loved the movie. It was pretty awesome!
