After reading the books so many times...

Does Bella ever get on your nerves?

After about the third time I read them she was getting pretty annoying to me.

It seems kind of blasphemous to say that, but it's true.

I said this on TTs!

When I first read the series, I was mad at Jacob for breaking Bella and Edward up... or for trying to.

After my 2nd re-read, I realized that I was more mad at Bella than Jacob and that Jacob is quite a likable character.

I love Edward and Bella as a couple. I like Jacob as an individual. I love Edward as an individual. Bella as an individual? Not so much.

Yes! And it wouldn't hurt to be a little selfless.

Agreed. It falls into my argument on why Bella isn't a great role model for young girls.(over on TT)

I mean, I like her but at the same time she annoys me. Then again maybe she just annoys me because I read her actions over and over again. In real life you only see people do something once so it's less likely to annoy you.

True, I guess. But it doesn't justify the actions and choices she makes. She's being selfish and she knows it.

Yeah, I'm the same, first time through the books, I wasn't much of a fan of Jacob at all, but second time though I loved him! And I was getting really annoyed with the way Bella would constantly go running from one (Edward) to the other (Jacob) even though she didnt really realise what she was doing until the end of eclipse.

The first and second books I was okay with Bella but when the third book back along. I wanted to strangle her through the pages. I cringed when she spoke because she did not seem to really think things through. It bothers me because they were the same mistakes that I made in a past relationship. You just want to say "Silly girl do you not understand what you are doing?" I don't know, but I do know that Essa is right Bella is just very selfish. :)

Yes! Bella was being an idiot. A selfish idiot. A selfish idiot who put everyone else in danger. I love you and all Bella but... you are a moron.

Yea I do agree 100%. But when you think about it, she never really had two strong, stable parents to look to as an example of how you fall in love and how you interact with the guy you're in love with. She was selfish and didn't really think things through, but I would like to think that it's just because she didn't have an example to follow as opposed to it being a character flaw.

But you are right, regardless. She is acting selfish. And just because we love Bella it doesn't mean we love her because she's "perfect", cause she isn't. No one is. When you love a person, you love them for the good and the bad parts.

Man, I got mad at EVERYONE! I was stomping back and forth in my apartment when Bella kissed Jacob right before the battle. I was furious with Jacob for his behavior in the tent, and kissing Bella in the first place. And I was angry with Edward that he wouldn't let Bella anywhere near Jake for a long time.

I did the same thing. I felt like Bella was becoming a little weaker as a person, like she was slightly... unstable (if that's the right word). I mean, sure she is really a good person, but as far as love is concerned.... not so much. Of course, as readers, we can see these mistakes for what they are. We see the outside. If I were in Bella's position, I might make some of the same mistakes she made.

Especially the biggest of them all. I really, truely disliked her for a long while when she forced Edward to choose between her and his family. To fight or to stay. Jacob wouldn't have done what she asked, either way; he's Jacob.

But Bella... she inheritly has a selfish nature, much liek Edward says of himself. In that respect, they are perfectly matched.

And if I can force myself to do it, I have to say, I really can't understand the depth of hatred toward Jacob and the pack. I know they are immortal/mortal enemies, but seriously, a wolf just saved your girlfriend from committing unintentional suicide. What are oyu going to do? A) Kill him and ask for forgiveness of Bella later B) Watch him make obscene gestures and mental images about her/with her. C) Restraint yourself.

He obviously never saw option 'C' until later.

And Jacob. Jacob, Jacob Jacob. What can I say about him? He's an arrogant, conniving, cheating werewolf. Even if the whole verbal 'fight' between him and Edward over kissing Bella was cute, it's out of hand. It's a regular Romeo and Juliet affair. They fight, Paris falls. End of story. This Paris, however, never seems to get the picture. Yes, he will always be HER BELOVED FRIEND. Nothing more. Sure she loves him, but she loves Edward more than life itself, literally.

Okay, enough ranting.[/i]
